Great quality ear buds
I bought these for my mom for Christmas & she was so excited for them. My mom is always using all of her Alexa devices through the house and even while she is away from home. I purchased these because of the Alexa compatibility and sleek design. She takes phone calls a lot with work and the sound quality is top notch! Easy to connect and charges quick!

Seriously disappointed – tinny sound, slow response
The sound is VERY tinny, no bass – using for a while, hoping they break in and get better. But the WORST part is how unbelievably slow they are to respond to messages, and touch input (FYI on a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, so the latest/greatest). It literally takes SECONDS to respond to touch input for messages – so you end up touching a second time thinking it missed the first touch … but actually CANCELLING the command. Did they not test these at all??Also, the noise cancellation is almost non-existent – I can barely tell when it’s turned on vs off. Airpods 4 are WAYYYY better at sound, noise, touch response, and comfort – on an ANDROID phone. Soundcore are also better, at half the price. The OLD Echo buds are actually clearly better than these.Fit is also poor: I tried all of their tips, and they all scored “low” on fit using their Alexa app test. The Alexa app doesn’t show the earbuds 80% of the time. Again, the old buds work just fine. All around a solid FAIL.AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE until they get their s*** together.

Surprised actually. Great buds!!!
(Updated my review below to correct a wrong statement about the “echo buds not having a setting to turn off ANC and pass through altogether”. It turns out there is actually an option in Alexa called power save which turns them both off)AirPod Pro user here so my take on the echo buds is a direct comparison to the apple airpod pro earbuds. Loved the AirPod pros since I bought it a year ago or so with nice ANC and Siri integration. With An iphone it is the best option out there for me ….. up until the echo buds. Why you ask? Well first of all I think the sound is fuller than AirPod pros – especially after playing with the equalizer in Alexa app.Alexa voice integration is as good as (if not better) than the Siri especially if you are invested in amazon eco system which probably you are. I personally love the fact that Alexa is always listening so that I can ask Alexa to do things without pressing a button 9comes very handy when holding other things in your hand). If you don’t want this you can disable it. All in all it is same as Siri on the AirPods Pro which is always listening as well. I have set the Alexa settings (on all my echo devices) so that it never keeps my conversations and deletes them immediately after — something you need to set manually otherwise it keeps voice recordings for sometime in the cloud. The amazon music with these buds is great as it lets you to listen ANYTHING and ANYTIME a lot cheaper than what Apple offers. Interestingly the microphones are superior to the AirPods Pro — they pick up the voice even behind my beanies better than apple version and I mean way better. People I spoke to couldn’t tell I was on a pair of earbuds (with a bit of muffled sound) at all which usually is the case when speaking with AirPods Pro.It is also a lot cheaper than AirPods Pro – I got it for $99 with preorders.ANC seems to be effective. Probably on par with AirPods Pro.Ok now the not so great parts.well I am 6’3″ so it is safe to say that my ears are not small in fact on the bigger side. However these earbuds are not the comfiest ones to wear as they are somewhat sizeable. If you have small ears I’d say it might not work for you. Though everyone’s ear is different so they may fit perfectly too.Weird enough it doesn’t work with amazon fire tablets the way you think they should like how the Apple devices work together. You can connect the fire tablets, of course, but just like a regular Bluetooth earbud however you lose the Equalizer etc settings which would come with Alexa app. This is very odd omission that Amazon didn’t choose to support Fire tablets from the start – probably they will have future updates to support. When the ANC is off the pass through mode kicks in which amplifies the noise around as it is for hearing outside. Unfortunately it gives you a lot of white noise. Also with the ANC I can hear some hissing something I do not hear on my AirPod pros at all. It is not too bad though and especially with the music on or with a phone conversation happening this is not perceivable.Another issue I’m noticing is that there is noticeable enough latency when watching videos on iPhone that is more than it should be.

Punches above its cost, with two flaws (battery and touch volume)
There are many concerns in the reviews with this earbud which I want to address. My guess is most of these comments would apply to the version of the Echo buds with the wireless charging case (i.e., the buds are the same)First, be sure you are running the most current version of firmware. It is January 20th, 2025 and my current firmware is 625287404. At least two updates where applied from when I obtained the buds in the first week of January (this is automatic after you connect to the Alexa app). Why this is important is the initial firmware didn’t have updated ANC and tap options. On the current firmware, ANC is actually working. It is not as signficant as my Bose Ultras, but is definitely acceptable. Additionally, I now have the ability to adjust the volume via the tap 3 times or hold controls. This was not available first firmware. In regards to the battery, it doesn’t last the stated 5 hours. With ANC and Alexa on, I used up 45% of the right side ear in 77 minutes (the left ear used up 26%). At this rate, the buds would last only 2.75 to 3:00 hours. With ANC on and Alexa off, I used 63% of the left side ear (the right ear used up 60%). At this rate, the buds would last only 4 hours. In regards to the charging case, I have seen no significant loss in charge overnight (less than 1%) as indicated in some of the reviews. I have used the case for recharging the earbuds 3 times, all with more than 37% remaining. There is only 15% charge left in the case. It is unlikely that the case would charge the buds 15 hours based on ear buds discharge rates. I have not tested the rapid charge assertion of 2 hours with 15 minutes in the case.In regards to the ear buds falling out, I have not had that issue. I use the largest wing with the smallest ear plug. It is one of the more comfortable fitting ear buds that I have used (Bose Ultra, Jaybird Vista, Pixel Bud). The Jaybird was the worst fitting since it linked the ear plug to the wing size. This likely will not stay in your ear without the wings. I did find that the placement of the wing onto the bud was not well engineered like the Bose Ultra. It is missing an indent that directly identifies the position of the wing on the bud. I had to “guess” as to the exact position based on the orientation of the opening for the plug placement (somewhat oval shaped).Yes, you need to use the Alexa app. I have had to use an app with every wireless ear bud I own. I also have Alexa products in the home, so this wasn’t much of an issue for me. Post the initialization of the buds, I don’t need to use the app. This is stated in the description, so I am not sure why people would down vote based on this. It was a bit unintutive the first time, but the buds come up immediately now when I have the Alexa app opened and the case open.Yes, these buds are not extremely small. They weigh 7g each. My Bose Ultra’s weigh the same and somewhat large too. The Pixel Buds weigh 5g.So, the key “con” is the battery. For me, this isn’t too much of an issue as I don’t need Alexa for my primary usecase of running. Additionally, my runs don’t normally last 4 hours (unless I am having a bad race). The touch control issue is managed with the additional tap/hold options, though it would be nice to be able to adjust the one and two tap options. For the low price around the holidays of < $40, I would recommend this ear bud. The Bose Ultra, on sale, was over $225 when I purchased them in Sept of 2024. During the holidays, I saw it under $200. It definately has better ANC and overall sound was fuller. I would say I wouldn't pay $150 more for the improvement. Additionally, I have already had to get a replacement unit since my first pair developed a pairing/connection issue (fortunately, this only took 1 hour of my time with CS and the replacement was a new unit).
